Truly a diverse presentation, the entertainment at Tulip Festival represents many different genres of music and performers.
Start your weekend on Friday May 9 at 11:00 am with an acoustic music experience in Washington Park near the Moses Statue. Featured performers include historic local institution Monday Musical Club of Albany, indie-rocker/multi-media artist Ben Karis Nix, classical guitarist Miche, flamenco guitarist Maria Zemantauski and eclectic NYC pianist Nate Buccieri. At 8:00 pm, join in the Tulip Festival's 60th Anniversary Ceremony with the one-of-a-kind Night Fire event on Washington Park Lake, featuring a originally composed music and a fantastic art installation that you must see to believe.
The Main Stage, on the Parade Grounds of Washington Park, features two full days of fabulous musical presentations on Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 11. On Saturday, enjoy the quirky sounds of innovative pop act The Black and White Years, dance it up to horn-powered rockers The Rustic Overtones and sing along to multi-platinum alternative rock hit-makers The Spin Doctors. Sunday features the Bank of America Mother's Day Jazz lineup, including award-winning New Orleans trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis, talented singer/songwriter Vonda Sheppard and Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist Phoebe Snow. And be sure not to miss the famous Mother of the Year Award ceremony at 3:45 pm!
The Amphitheater Stage, located in front of the Lakehouse, hosts local and regional performers of all stripes on Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 11. On Saturday, induldge in a vast array of pop and rock music from 28N, Rick Rourke & Lost Wages, Byrds of Prey and Ten Year Vamp. Sunday brings the wildly diverse sounds of Two Gun Man, In Flight Radio, The Tequila Mockingbirds and That 1 Guy.
The KidZone features two full days of hands-on activities, facepainters, a caricaturist, Albany Conquest & Tri-City Valleycats, The Albany Pinebush Preserve and a chance to make a Mother's Day card for mom! Enjoy wonderful family performers sure to please both the kids and Mom and Dad, including Sylvia and the Magic Trunk, David Grover & The Big Bear Band and Goowin's Balloons.
