Winners of the 2012 Downtown Albany Jazz Festival Competition. Hundreds of ballots were cast as local groups battled it out in downtown venues for the opening slot on Jazz Fest. Stylistically combining jazz, hip-hop, funk, soul and gospel into a unique sound beyond genre tags, Albany’s the Chronicles have been flooring festival and club crowds across the northeast since 2009.

Way Down is a powerful trio of Albany musicians pushing the outer bounds of modern jazz fusion. While still a new band on the local scene, Way Down’s Dylan Perrillo, Kevin Urvalek, and Justin Henricks wholly original approach to groove and improvisation is already leaving an indelible mark on Capital Region music lovers.

With a career spanning 16 yrs and almost 20 albums, guitarist Charlie Hunter is widely considered the authority on the seven and eight-string guitar, and continues to stun audiences with his ability to simultaneously bust out bass parts, melodic leads and swinging rhythms. His signature style of writing and performing has secured his place as one of today's great guitarists.
