Dad Fest

June 21, 2015
Corning Preserve Boat Launch

1pm - 6pm

Due to the threat of inclement weather, the City of Albany’s new Father’s Day event, Dad Fest, will be held at the rain location at the Corning Preserve Boat Launch, under the 787 overpass at Water and Colonie Streets

For 67 years, the moms of the Capital Region have held the spotlight at the Albany Tulip Festival, the famous Mothers Day weekend spectacular culminating in the crowning of Albany’s Mother of the Year. Generations of mothers have celebrated their special day at Tulip Fest.

There’s plenty for dads to enjoy at Tulip Fest, but don’t they deserve their own party?

Enter Dad Fest, a new Father’s Day tradition kicking off this summer at the Corning Preserve Boat Launch on Albany’s Hudson Riverfront. Dad Fest is the City of Albany’s celebration of all the fantastic fathers out there  - a day full of great live music from The Neanderthals, Eddie Angel's Guitar Party, Super 400 and The WonderBeards, delicious food, tasty beverages, a wide variety of retail vendors, friendly competitions and games (including a moustache contest!), and more fun for all ages. Dad Fest is chance for the whole family to kick back and enjoy an early summer afternoon, surrounded by good folks, good tunes and good times. Isn’t it time we gave dads their due? Of course, you don't have to be a dad to enjoy Dad Fest - this new event offers a little something for everyone!

This event is produced with the help of community volunteers. Please contact us to be a part of this great experience!

Parking is available at Riverfront Garage,  the official parking location for Dad Fest, with a connection to  the pedestrian bridge to Jennings Landing at the Corning Preserve. Handicap parking with easy access to Jennings Landing is available at this location. For more parking information, visit

Super 400

With a signature sound that Backbeat Magazine calls “heavy, like molten lead, a ‘70s-era Zeppelin-esque bomb of no-holds-barred rock-and-roll,” Troy superstars Super 400 take the classic “power trio” approach with their live show, now in their 20th year of rocking ecstatic audiences worldwide.

Eddie Angel’s Guitar Party

Eddie Angel’s Guitar Party features Grammy-nominated guitarslinger and 518 native Eddie Angel blasting through original garage, rockabilly and surf instrumentals, as well some choice cuts and classic hits. It's an unhinged sound that’s been compared to “Link Wray surfing on the Chesapeake Bay."

The Neanderthals

Rumored to feature Eddie Angel and infamous singer/showman Johnny Rabb, The Neanderthals are four cavemen that dress up in leopard-skin furs and play silly-looking longhorn guitars to get their crazy sound. Their music is a primitive, stomping rock 'n' roll reminiscent of ‘60s garage rockers.
