2025 Make Music Albany

Make Music Albany is a community event that aims to strengthen social and cultural ties, elevate the profile of our city internationally, and supports amateur and professional musicians. The event occurs on Saturday June 21st from 10:00am – 8:00pm. 

What is Make Music Albany? 

Make Music Albany, part of the international Fête de la Musique, is a celebration of sound, occurring annually on June 21. Joining over 700 cities in 103 countries, Make Music Albany is a free event to attend and participate in, and is open to all ages, genres, styles, and abilities. During the daylong event, the city comes alive with music. Performances take place on city sidewalks, in parks, patios and even on back porches. Who can participate? Anyone. Whether you are a professional musician or just like to jam out alone in your house, we want you. Make Music Albany is a day to celebrate all music and all musicians - local to NY’s Capital Region. How does it work? Participants and venues create a profile via the online registration tool, Solstice. From there, musicians can request performances at venues and venues can request musicians to perform; it is what we like to call matchmaking. Once a performance is accepted, it will automatically be added to the final schedule.

1. The City of Albany & State of New York – Music is a universal language and has the compelling power to bring diverse groups of individuals together. Make Music Albany is a time to come together as a city and celebrate the start of summer and the talented musicians that live here. 

2. The Musicians – Make Music Albany is dedicated to helping fuel the success of local musicians. We do this through promotion (of events, shows, albums etc.) and support (attending shows, album launches, etc). MMA provides an outlet for musicians and introduces them to new audiences. 

3. The Venues – Whether it’s one of the many city parks and squares we have permitted, or you’re a local business hosting some music on the sidewalk in front of your door, people are going to come and listen. We hope that having music at your business will draw in not only listeners, but new and more customers to your space. 

How to Sign Up: 

1. Visit Make Music Albany and click Participate. 

2. Click Register Here and fill out the sign me up form. 

3. On the next page there will be 3 options to choose from. You'll want to select Venue, Performer, OR Both. Choose the one that fits you best. 

4. Once you select that option it will walk you through creating a profile. It's there that you'll be able to select the whole time frame you're available to have or perform music during the day, give details about your space or musical genre, and list what you're able to provide (PA, electricity, etc.) 

5. Once you fill out the profile you are good to start browsing artists/venues and requesting performances.
